[Think Like An Entrepreneur Thursday] Ep. 3 - The One Concept You Must Master as an Entrepreneur

I had a hard time grasping this one when I was building my first business because I liked to believe I was the only one who could do anything.

My business was my baby and I didn’t want to let it go.

However, one of the greatest moments as an entrepreneur was when I learned to let go of my control and grasp this one important concept.

I had to let go and work myself out of a job. One of my mentors drives this concept home as someone who lives a pretty amazing life.  He has several business sales under his belt and practices this concept daily.

Starting a company can be daunting and if you’re doing it all, you won’t last long. If you believe you’re the only one who can do what you do, you’ll miss out on opportunity. If you’re having a hard time trusting, the entrepreneurship road will be long and hard.

Part of being a great entrepreneur is to be a great leader.

If there’s one thing you must learn when going from an employee to an entrepreneur, it is to let go. True freedom comes when you can take vacations when your company works without you.

Jim Collins, author of ‘From Good to Great’, talks about this concept of what makes great companies stand above the rest. One of those is for that company to function just as well when the owner is out of the picture.

Don’t stress if you’re not to that point yet in your business.  The goal is to move in a direction to get you there. Yes, it may take years but stop hanging on so tight to this idea that you have to do it all. Get your processes in place to start handing it off and work your way out of a job.
