Sabina Hitchen has a long history of PR, and I was so excited when she agreed to come on the show to discuss how we should start pitching ourselves like the pros do. In this podcast, she teaches us how to dissect our favorite magazines, and how to get featured in some of today's largest magazines!
Step #1: Figure out what the magazine stands for. Do you know what their mission statement is? Go to the magazine's website (you can look via the publishing house's site). They will give you a run down of what the magazine describes itself. Get in the mindset of the magazine. Also read the Letter From the Editor section to understand what they're about.
Step #2: Head over to the front of the magazine and read the page that lists all of the people who are working there. The most important people are at the top, and you'll more than likely be avoiding those. However, what you want to do is figure out your niche/beat and look to the section...
By now you should know that video can add tremendous value to your business. However, there's so much more to it than just posting a video on YouTube every now and then. Video adds a personal touch, and allows people to feel more connected to you.
Holly Gillen of Holly G Studios gave some incredible ideas of how you can use video to take your business to a whole new level.

I was so happy when The Audacity Coach, Jennie Mustafa-Julock, joined me to talk about a topic that every entrepreneur suffers from, that nagging inner voice. Jennie has kindly named her Hilda, and in this interview we talked about who Hilda is, why she always seems to show up, and what we can do to get rid of her once and for all!
Who is Hilda and what she does in our every day lives? Hilda is the voice that creeps in your head when you start actually moving down a path that could push you forward. She's the nagging naysayer that convinces you, you shouldn't take a chance because after all, what happens when you fail?
You have to figure out who this voice is because it's not you. Yes, it's in your head, but you can't let it get the best of you.
We all assume we're the only ones suffering from a Hilda, yet every single person has a Hilda. It's easy to feel that you're the only one hearing this cautionary crap in your brain, but you're not.

I heard Sherry Prindle speak a few months ago, and was blown away by what she taught. If you're trying to figure out how to make money (and not just start a business) by making a difference and doing what you love, Sherry breaks it down in one of the most easily consumable ways I have heard.
She talks about the 10 P's of success, and these P's cover everything from the very beginning to how you can promote yourself and make a living doing it!
1. Purpose - Finding your purpose is a lot easier said than done. Sherry asks us to think of a first childhood negative memory. It may not have been the worst thing in the world, however, when we were young, we put a negative meaning behind it.
What really ends up happening is that we make it mean something. Then when we decide something, we end up developing a strength, and that strength becomes your purpose.
It just becomes something you absolutely can't turn off.

When you're starting a business, logos are very important. However, with all of the options out there (from extremely cheap to expensive), it's important to know where to go and what you should plan on spending. It is more than just a picture, and it's important to understand that.
Emily has a background in graphic design and branding, and she just really wanted to make a shift to have a flexible schedule and take on different creative challenges. She started her own business, and is grateful for the opportunity to continue to serve others.
What should I be thinking about when starting to design a logo? A mistake people usually make is going too large for their first logo. You want something simple, memorable, and understandable. Then you want to create a few different versions of it, i.e. one for your website, one for packaging, etc. You really want to think of some of your options and where you'll be using it.
Emily does a lot of...

Never did anyone ever say it would be easy to try to make a life of your own. The journey that Carmen set out on was nothing short of easy. She went from starting a travel business in a world where many did not even believe that they existed to growing it to a profitable business that has allowed her to help others be a success in their own business. She incorporates the reason for being and your purpose in life with travel to help create a sense of peace and understanding in oneself. Allowing others to really understand that with time you can do anything but allowing yourself to slow down and take it all in will make you a success.

You truly have to have the heart for your business and the passion to drive it where you want it to go. Creating the idea is simple but bringing what you want and why you want it is the part that takes work.
